Ian Jovanovich is a Brooklyn based photographer. He is a recent graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York, with a BFA in photography. Ian specializes in portraiture, and photographing the environments around him. His work is described as still, light, and meditative, and generally emphasizes a subtle, pastel color pallet. His photographs are often about what is absent within the frame. Ian draws a large amount of inspiration from the literal and metaphorical idea of home, photographing both the tangible structures and the more figurative ideas of home such as found families.  More recently, Ian’s work has been focusing on themes of introspection, experimentation, and discovery as it relates to his own personal identity. He travels frequently to his hometown just outside of Washington DC, and to areas throughout southern Virginia. He spends a lot of his time in Richmond, Virginia having fun with his friends and creating art along the way.
